In Germany, a betting tax applies to every sports bet placed. This tax must be paid by the betting operator. The regulation applies to all licensed providers, including Tipico.
Many sports betting operators pass this betting tax on to their customers in the form of a 5% betting fee on the stake.
How does the betting fee affect your bet?
The fee is deducted directly from your stake when you place a bet. As a result, the actual amount wagered is reduced by 5%. This is clearly displayed when placing your bet, and the fee is shown transparently on the bet slip.
Example:
You place a €10 bet. A fee of €0.50 (5% of the stake) is deducted. Your effective stake is therefore €9.50.
